MeFluent for Firefox (beta)
Translation when you need it |
|
This is an early version and may have bugs.
|
| —What— |
MeFluent is a free, open-source add-on for the
Firefox browser that helps language learners.
It provides translation for a webpage, but only shows the translation when you need it. MeFluent works on any
webpage that has gone through the Google Translate™ translation service.
(The Google Translate™ service does the hard work; MeFluent just add some convenience and a quiz.)
|
| —Why— |
MeFluent makes reading a foreign language easier
while still giving you a challenge. Read a foreign-language newspaper every day, or some other
webpage that interests you, and grow your vocabulary and grammar recognition while enjoying
the content. MeFluent provides other learning tools, like a quiz, based on your reading actions. See Frequently Asked Questions for more info.
|
| —How— |
First, read this page with the Firefox browser. MeFluent is only available for Firefox. |
| —Who— |
MeFluent is for people who have some basic ability in a
foreign language, and wish to improve that ability. It gets easier with practice
(because your vocabulary is improving!), but you have to challenge yourself by
trying to read untranslated text before moving the mouse to get help.
MeFluent also provides data for educational researchers who follow peer-reviewed research policies. By using MeFluent, you
agree that some information about your foreign-language reading may be used for such research; see the
Privacy Policy for details.
The MeFluent add-on for Firefox was created by Codeguild, Inc. and is freely available for users and for developers as open-source. Your feedback is very welcome in the MeFluent discussion forum. |
